Quality requirements for subcontracting welding of rail vehicles and vehicle parts
The purpose of this information sheet is to describe the implementation of the requirements of DIN EN 15085 “Railway applications – Welding of railway vehicles and components” in cases where welded railway vehicles and components are subcontracted, for clients, contractors, and subcontractors. The information sheet is to be contractually agreed between the client and the contractor. Clients are companies that place an order for:
- design (scope of activity DIN EN 15085-2 – D),
- procurement (scope of activity DIN EN 15085-2 – S),
- production (scope of activity DIN EN 15085-2 – P), or - maintenance (scope of activity DIN EN 15085-2 – M)
of welded railway vehicles or components with a welding company.
Contractors have received an order for the design, procurement, manufacture, or maintenance of welded railway vehicles or components. Clients, contractors, and subcontractors must provide evidence of compliance with the requirements for welding companies in accordance with DIN EN 15085-2 and Guideline DVS 1619-1 “Proof of conformity as a welding company in railway vehicle construction to the standards series EN 15085.”
