Guideline DVS 2213 ENG (01/2025)
Plastics Welding Specialist
This guideline applies in addition to Annex 1 for the training and examination of the Specialist for Plastic Welding. The training and examination take place at plastic training or examination centres (DVS-BEs or PS) recognized by DVS PersZert for Guideline DVS 2213.
This qualification certifies the specific knowledge required for working as a welding supervisor to ensure the quality of welding work with thermoplastic materials in tank, apparatus, and pipeline construction, as well as sheets used in civil engineering, hydraulic engineering, tunnel construction, and for sealing and lining applications. The Specialist for Plastic Welding is particularly intended to work in areas where clients or competent authorities require such supervision, or where high demands are placed on safety and/or load-bearing capacity. Furthermore, they are responsible for the scheduled supervision of welders, through which an extension of the validity period of the welder’s qualification can be achieved.
This guideline does not apply to the welding supervision of welding work on pipes and pipeline components in public gas and water supply systems, nor to industrial series welding.
